Alice Rieder Wilkerson

The Alice Rieder Wilkerson Collection presents a curated selection of works by Alice Charlotte Rieder Wilkerson (1928–2018), an Austrian-born artist whose paintings and drawings reflect a lifelong devotion to color, movement, and the natural world. Raised in Vienna within the historic Rieder artistic lineage—Alice developed a personal style shaped by her heritage, her travels, and her deep appreciation for the beauty in everyday life.

While Alice created hundreds of works over many decades, the pieces shown here represent only a selected portion of her broader artistic output. These works remain in the private ownership of Ret. Major Thomas B. Wilkerson and the Wilkerson family, who have generously granted the Velvet Foundation for the Arts permission to publish them online for the first time.

This curated presentation highlights the grace, warmth, and technical sensitivity that define Alice’s artistic voice—from expressive landscapes and floral studies to intimate figurative compositions. Together, these works honor her legacy and preserve an important chapter within the enduring Rieder family artistic tradition.
